All About Tending the Land

We’re passionate about being just stewards of the land first and foremost because, as human beings, we were tasked with the God given work of caring for His creation in the garden of Eden. A task that was not revoked after the fall. Additionally, the land and nature itself show us, each in their own way, a glimpse of the glory of God. So, it follows that we should take good and proper care of that which sustains us physically, and, in many ways, emotionally and mentally as well.

Learn More About the Land

Understanding the World god created

In order to successfully navigate the ins and outs of homesteading, it’s critical to start with a solid understanding of the world God created. Research soil composition and amendments for each type, grow familiar with the biology and growth pattern of plants (and the animals that graze them), as well as learn about the natural weather patterns in your area. These are all ways you can come to better understand the land, which, in turn, will give you insight on how to better care for it.

    Reaping the Harvest

Enjoying the fruits of your labor

While it might seem unrelated, a vital part of tending the land is reaping the harvest. There is a season to sow and a season to reap. A time to plant and a time to harvest. Understanding the times and signs for harvest with each plant, as well as proper harvesting methods, is all part of being a good steward. For many of our plants (pasture included) thrive when they are pruned and their fruit harvested at the correct time.
